General Conference weekend

Last weekend we had our semi-annual General Conference for the LDS church.  This was our first time watching conference abroad! We’re 7 hours ahead of Utah where it’s broadcasted from, so we watched the Saturday morning session at 5pm our time, and then watched the next session Sunday morning.  We used some of our Saturday as well catching up on the Women’s conference session—thank goodness everything is accessible on the internet!  We’ll catch up on the Sunday afternoon session and Priesthood session during the week since we were asleep when it was broadcast. It was great to see Temple Square and all of the tulips!  It was wonderful to hear from our wonderful church leaders and their inspired messages. When I tucked Savvy into bed the night before Conference started, she said, “The best part about Conference is dragging my pillows and blankets out and being cozy while we watch.”  I guess that is a tradition that we’ve had going.  Literally all of their bedding comes out as well as stuffed animals.  You know, the other members of the family.  :)

I always feel renewed after watching conference and love the opportunity to continue studying the talks for the next 6 months before the next conference.  I’ve been especially inspired by the talks about fear and turning to the Savior to deal with our daily fears and weaknesses through his grace.  My favorites:  Elder Bednar: “Therefore They Hushed Their Fears.”  Elder Wilford Andersen: “The Music of the Gospel.”  Elder Brent Nielsen:  “Waiting for the Prodigal.”  Elder Holland:  “Where Justice, Love, and Mercy Meet.” Elder Uchtdorf:  “The Gift of Grace.”

In between sessions, there was a lot of lego building going on with dad:
We also worked on reading the first four books of, “The Series of Unfortunate Events” over Spring break, which overlapped with Conference weekend.
