After 2 months in Angola, we're finally settling in to our own place and putting all of the suitcases and carry-ons away! The first day we were totally moved in with our boxes and all of our furniture, we had the missionaries over for dinner and Briant had a correlation meeting with them as the branch mission leader. He helps them coordinate the efforts of the missionaries with that of the branch members. Being our first night in our new apartment, Briant decided to pick up 5 pizzas at the Italian pizzeria on the next block over instead of cooking (yeah!).
The kids absolutely love the Elders! Right now we have a few Elders from the States and a few from Mozambique serving in this area.
A few days after the missionaries were over, Rhea wrote these notes: "I like my family and my best friends too...and I like the missionaries."
We tried to make the house feel more festive by decorating gingerbread houses that Gma-P sent us for Christmas. The kids had a ball and of course enjoyed eating the candy along the way. :)
Ta-dah:
Making snowflakes to put in our windows to make it seem like winter. We're not used to celebrating Christmas in the middle of summer. We miss the Utah snow during this time of year!
Making candle holders out of playdough for some candles that Gma-P sent us in a Christmas package (she actually sent 7 packages!). Every day the kids made sure we lit the candles. Who doesn't like fire right?
Savvy also used the playdough to make her own nativity set.
She's holding up baby Jesus in a manger.
