I got to celebrate Earth Day with the kids at their school assembly. Google of course celebrated it too.
Here's Thomas leaving for school on Earth Day. He wanted to wear green, but didn't have anything green, so he opted for the next best natural color of the oceans and sky--blue.
Before the assembly, I caught Rhea running around with her friends playing tag. Their names are Tissia and Tomelo.
Here's Savvy walking around trying to find trash to pick up for one of her Earth day projects before the assembly.
After picking up trash, they had free time, so I went with her to class and played with her. She wanted to play hang-man.

The school assembly was particularly special this time because Thomas has been on the Earth Day committee for the past few months, and he was chosen to run all of the technology with Mr. Dylan.
He started out as one of the greeters at the door high-fiving the kids and welcoming them as they entered the gym.

He then moved up to the front of the gym with tech support. The night before the assembly, he expressed how nervous he was because he didn't want to mess up. He did a great job though, especially at trying to read the minds of the speakers who didn't communicate very clearly when they wanted him to switch slides during their presentations. A great experience for him!

The assembly was great. It was for the entire school covering preschool thru highschool. They had two speakers from non-profit organizations that are trying to preserve land and natural resources as well as manatees here in Angola and surrounding countries. There was also a duet of two female singers, as well as two songs sung by the entire school.
I always love hearing the songs my kids learn at school! They are always such fun songs that the kids sing all day long, many which are multi-culturally inspired. Ms. Betsy, an American, is the music teacher. I told her she needs to go back to the states and share everything she does here! We are so grateful for all that she has taught our kids about music (piano, recorder, violin, and every other instrument they get to play with in class) and for helping my kids to love learning about and experimenting with musical instruments and their sounds. This is one of the songs from the assembly:
