One of the great things about living in Latvia is having Old World cultural heritage and institutions for cheap and (mostly) easy, first-world access to New World food and modern entertainment. On December 23, that meant that the girls and I could get cheap but great tickets to The Nutracker matinee ballet at the National Opera while Bri and Thomas could walk down to see the new Stars Wars in a big stadium-seating theater at Stockmann. Bri took some pictures of us getting ready and at the National Opera, and I contributed interior shots. We had a great time, and Bri and I look forward to seeing operas and other performances in the coming years.
There are several bronze sculptures on the (currently soggy) grounds of the National Opera; Bri captured a few.

Thomas loved Star Wars, but Briant was disappointed. On the way out of Stockmann, Bri and Thomas saw a guy dressed up like Santa Clause playing the trumpet and singing while pushing a cart around in long underwear in cold, wet weather. By the time Bri got his phone out, all they got was him walking away. Great time in the center!
