We're learning that Latvians love their festivals! And we're loving them too. It was fun for our first festival to see how Latvians do their celebrating. We were excited to see that they love zip lines as much as we do, and of course the kids had to participate. They repelled from a tree over people and one of the canals that runs through the city. Fun!
After the zip lining, we found a fake cow that allowed the kids to get a feel for what it would be like to milk one. They liked it--I think we should move to a farm. :)
Ice sculpting. An owl and cat I believe. Latvians love owls as well as their symbols of roosters and cats that decorate the tops of a few buildings in the city.
We couldn't believe our luck on our first real Saturday in the city that we found a Baskin Robbins cart!
We went to the festival with our friends, James and Nadia and their adorably cute two year old bilingual son (Nadia is from Puerto Rico).
Enjoying ice cream while waiting for the circus mimes to perform.
Thomas wants to protect his face from getting burned. He's learned this from Grandpa B!
One of the cats that looks down on us.
We ran into Avo and Kendra, our sponsors, and their family. Awesome people!
While waiting to take pics of the kids zip lining, I noticed this new potato food I'd never seen before. They peel it, drill a hold in it, and stick it on a skewer as they spread it out on the skewer!

All this fun made us hungry so of course with the kids being with us, their choice was McDonalds. Predictable and something from home. Can't blame them. :)

"Thank you!"
