An afternoon in Riga without the kids

Old town, Town Hall Square.  Monument to the Latvian Riflemen during the 50 years the Soviets occupied Latvia.
Restaurant in the sky--we'll have to try that some day!
This is a monument to the first Christmas tree being in Riga.  It's engraved, "The first new year's tree in Riga in 1510."
House of the Blackheads, being renovated.  Originally built in 1334, it has been rebuilt many times, including after WWII.
Adorable cobblestone streets and buildings of Old Town.
There are a lot of handicraft markets, this being a popular one in Old Town.  Latvians are known for their amazing handicraft talents making socks, hats, clothes, scarves, gloves, table cloths, pottery, etc.
We stopped to eat at a buffet restaurant called Lido.  They have a few locations around the city.
A romantic background for sure for the bride and groom (minus the tourists!).
 Town Hall
St. Peter's church--it has been rebuilt many times but still holds some of the original pieces of brick, sculptures, etc.
There's an elevator that takes you to the top where you have one of the best 360 degree views of the city.  Amazing!
Fun sculpture.  You can definitely tell where they've been rubbed!
Lutheran Church with Matryoshka dolls being sold nearby.
There are many places in and around the city limits where you can purchase flowers.  With it always being someone's "Name day," the flowers are always somewhere to purchase!
