Savannah's note I found on her door. :)
Savvy is always drawing and writing notes, some of which are notes to me telling her how much she loves me, always accompanied by cute drawing. I always forget to save them, so we've gotten rid of some good ones. Like the one that I woke up to hanging on my doorknob (perfectly hole-punched with some yarn weaved through the holes) that explained a fight that she and Rhea had, and how Rhea got mad and told her she was going to kill her. Should have saved that one! Then there are ones like these, so sweet and random, in the middle of the week after going swimming...I would love to be in this girl's head!
Swimming one day, Savvy re-chipped her front tooth on the side of the pool. Going to have to get that fixed before leaving for Angola!Last night for family home evening, Savvy taught us the lesson. She asked if she could teach it. Apparently she asked her Primary teacher if she could have the visual aids from their lesson on Sunday, to teach FHE. So she asked ahead of time and prepared a lesson on "Obedients." She even had a pointer. :) It was very good and she asked for a lot of participation from us which was great. Briant told a story of when he was a little boy, about 4 I think, when he went with his dad to cut wood down in the Oregon forest to heat their house, and he wandered off despite his dad's instructions to stay near him. He was very lucky that he was found by a Scout troop that helped him find his way back to his dad. A great example of why we need to obey! We discussed how there is safety, happiness, and a certain amount of ease that is present in our lives when we obey our parents and the commandments of our Heavenly Father. All of those are disrupted when we make choices that distance us from Heavenly Father. Savvy ended with her beautiful, simple testimony. We said a prayer, and as the other kids were off to get ready to bed, Thomas shared with me that he has a goal of bearing his testimony in church every month in Angola! This is a big deal because this kid never wanted to bear his testimony in Alpine because he was scared. He said that there won't be as many people in Angola. Unless he bears his testimony in Portuguese, they might not understand him either...which could help him feel better about it too. :)
