The update today, April 18, on Covid:
A few weeks ago, the governor of Virginia issued a stay at home order for all non-essential workers. A lot of businesses have had to close temporarily because they're deemed non-essential. Restaurants and grocery stores are still open and can operate as long as they don't have more than 10 customers at one time. They are asking us to practice "social distancing" and be at least 6 feet away from other people. Restaurants are allowed only to serve take out. Costco can't have more than 50 customers at a time, so customers line up outside until they are told they can go inside. And of course they line up 6 feet apart. Briant's shoulder surgery that was scheduled for late March was canceled and was going to be rescheduled for late April, but Briant told them not to worry about rescheduling because he was sure it would just be canceled again. So far, he's right. No elective surgeries are being performed. Most doctor visits are being done virtually. There's a big push everywhere to social distance and "flatten the curve." Every state is deciding how to handle Covid as far as regulations, rules, and policies. State by state the numbers of Covid cases and deaths vary. I think we're finishing 4 weeks of "quarantining" now.

I've also worked with Rhea a little with the piano.
Savannah has been busy making us all face masks! She's done a wonderful job!
Saturday morning I found Rhea getting ready to go swimming...in our tub. :)
The government approved a stimulus bill (can't believe everyone agreed on something!) and they just issued stimulus checks to everyone! We just got $3,900 dollars! This is a way the government is helping us all cope with Covid. There are about 26 million Americans that have applied for unemployment benefits. We feel fortunate that Briant still has a job that is paying him right now. So many people are not working and are running through their savings trying to buy food and other necessities IF they have savings. This is a trying time for our country and the world.
I love this sign out front of one of the neighborhood houses I walk by. Hope...a good reminder right now that this WILL end. The red heart, and the hearts in windows of houses all over the country are a sign of gratitude to those "essential" workers that are still leaving their houses every day to work in the hospitals, grocery stores, mail and delivery services, trash collection, etc. They are working at the risk of getting Covid, so we appreciate the sacrifice. Every night at 8pm here at Falls Green (and in Virginia), house lights blink on and off and people clap, hoot, and holler for these essential workers.
But of course there is no lack of humor during this time:
