Dad's 47th b-day!

Dad is 47! We're glad Bri was born today 47 years ago, and we're glad we get to spoil him with extra love and attention to show our appreciation for all he does for our family!  The kids have been trying to figure out all week what they could do for dad to make his day special.  We all agreed that dad shouldn't be in the kitchen cooking for us, so we planned all the meals, starting with breakfast in bed and "Happy Birthday" sung in Mandarin.  Savannah still remembered it from her year of Chinese Immersion in 1st grade so she taught us how to say it!  I noticed a look of happy surprise on Bri's face when we started singing.  :)  Zhù nǐ shēngrì kuàilè. 祝你生日快乐.
Bri had a few different stake zoom meetings during the day, so he had to put on a white shirt and tie.  However, he was still comfortable in his flannel pants.  :)
After his first morning meeting, we had home church with the Sacrament.  We had a great meeting discussing Mosiah 3 & 4.  Then the kids wanted to give their gifts.  Covid limited some of the celebrating as we're homebound except to go grocery shopping, so I'm glad the kids were able to still come up with sweet and creative gifts.  Savannah made a wonderful video tribute of photos of Bri with the kids and our family throughout the years, along with some sweet words that brought tears to all of our eyes, including Bri.  It was a wonderful creation. And Thomas, knowing the artistic abilities of Bri and his love of drawing, asked all the kids to draw a picture of dad with a note.  I loved seeing the different versions!  These kids have definitely gotten their dad's genes--their drawings were impressive!  I love Rhea's note:  "You make the money, mom brings the honey.  You help the family in hard times and your Chinese is great!"Rhea also gave a bouncy ball and a note:  "Whenever you are bored or nervous, bounce the ball."
Rhea also decorated different walls and areas of the apartment.  We usually do balloons, streamers, and banners, so Rhea tried to make up for our lack of supplies.
Then while Bri had a few afternoon zoom meetings, we started preparing for making funnel cakes!  I know Briant loves funnel cakes and all yummy desserts from community festivals and fairs.  G-ma P actually sent us a package a few months back and in it was a box of funnel cake mix.  I knew this would be the day to make it.  Bri LOVED the treat along with ice cream and chocolate sauce.
G-pa and G-ma Becky called and did a video chat to sing "Happy Birthday" to him and then we got to zoom with the B extended family and everyone sang to Bri again.  He got to share the story of his birth where he was born 2 weeks late in Hawaii and he broke his mother's pelvis!  Bri also enjoyed a phone call with his parents and we both got to chat with them for a while before it got late and we had to get to bed.  It was wonderful talking with them and all of our family today!  We love Bri and are sooooo glad he was born!!
